So I've been thinking. I figure we need some interaction going on here. Sign the guest book at the bottom of the page, comment on the articles and we can get some discussion going. It doesn't matter who you are or what you're talking about, give your opinion on anything here and we'll get this site really going.

If you have any ideas for articles or if there's anything you want to know more about, let me know. Write it somewhere on the site. I'm sure you've read the banner at the top of the site: "Where we're all equally out of place." So lets get some equality started, voice what's on your mind. Critique my writing, even. Whatever.

What's been going on in your lives lately? Looking forward to anything? I know I can't wait for Nightmare Before Christmas to come out to theaters in 3D this weekend. I'm excited for the party in November, when the group is going to come down to Lethbridge to celebrate a few of our birthdays. I'm also looking forward to the next provincial election so we can finally give Ed the boot.

Well, here it is. First time I've had any sort of site like this. If I'm going to get into journalism, I need a place to practice public writing, and I hope this can be the place. I think I'm going to keep my travel journal here as well, so's to share some experiences with whoever cares to read.

But for now, Ill fill you in on my situation, from the beginning: New years eve, I announced 2007 was to be a year of healing for me, physically, spiritually, mentally, and financially. This means: establishing a career and getting out of debt, being more active in religion, reverting back to the positive thought patterns of my youth and dropping this pessimistic, unjustified outlook I seem to have developed; no more smoking or binge drinking, getting back into parkour and foot voyages; the list goes on.

I tried to quit smoking on new years--as well as several times before and after--but it didn't last. I went to Peace River for a month to help with the renovations of an apartment building, even though I've said time and time again that I would never go back to that town. I then found a job upon returning to Cochrane, but lost that job and was broke within weeks. By mid February, I was still smoking and drinking as much as ever, and hadn't made much progress in any of my resolutions.

So, by February 21, Ash wednesday, I had made up my mind. I was sick of myself. Completely. Right then and there I swore off of drinking for the entirity of lent. With the help and advise I got from my doctor and my wee wifey, I made a plan to quit smoking, and when the day came to quit, I did, as well as apply for SAIT's course in journalism. I've spent the last weeks focusing on personal healing and getting through withdrawls.

Which brings us to my current position in life. The downside: I'm unemployed, broke, and stuck in Cochrane, I've been turned down by SAIT, and I'm still in debt; I'm 45 kilometers away from a relationship and one guitar string short of a hobby. But on the up-side, I've lasted 10 days without smoking, and still havent touched a drop of alcohol since February 21. I now know which career I'm aiming for, and the positivity and confidence I'm feeling is something that's been completely estranged from me for quite some time. My life is finally headed in the right direction.

Tomorrow it's on with the job hunt, and one more step towards the ultimate goal.
